ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS

We compare the carbon footprint of enhanced water treatment by ultra-filtration with other remedies for drinking water quality. Our interest is in the additional impact of treating municipal waters, above and beyond the carbon footprint of the municipal plants.

Bottled water – has ZERO positive impact. The negative effect is due to:

  1. The manufacturing of the plastic bottles, and the vast amounts of water and energy required to produce the plastics.
  2. The filling of the landfill sites with plastic bottles.
  3. The bottling and delivery process.

Reverse OsmosisZERO positive impact. The negative effect is due to:

  1. Low recovery of feed water, less than 25%, with balance going to drain. Household systems, waste 4-10 liters for every liter of water produced. The presents a huge burden on municipal supplies and added expense for owners.
  2. Landfill volumes are increased by the number of membranes and filters replaced annually.
  3. Larger high-pressure systems require large amounts of energy.

HomespringHIGHEST POSITIVE RESULT

  1. High recovery of feed water, greater than 97%
  2. Long membrane life (10 years)
  3. No energy consumed during filtration
